Finally.. a new post :)

Hi Everyone!

Well it has been awhile since we have posted anything and I can't believe its the end of September already. Here is a quick update on what we have been doing the past 2 months. In August we were in Chicago twice. We had a wedding in the beginning of August, then we went there over Labor Day to spend a couple days with our friends Rick and Shannon. It was great to catch up. We miss our weekly outings in Appleton!

Bringing in September didn't bring the best news to our family. My grandma passed away after a long fight! She has been sick for a couple years now and the past couple of months, she hasn't been doing very well and was in a lot of pain. She is now our little angel and is not suffering anymore. The picture above is a family picture from that weekend. It was nice to see everyone on my dad's side. We had a lot of fun even if we were all there for a bad circumstance.
My mom came up last weekend to visit. On Saturday we went to Stillwater for lunch and shopping with Aunt Julie, Aunt Dona, Emily and Katie. It was a beautiful day and we had a lot of laughs. Nik was happy that day because I think he watched football for 12 hours straight :)
Now that we are living in Minnesota, this will be the first time Nik hasn't coached football or played since I met him. So I knew he would miss it. I volunteered him to coach our 8 year old neighbors flag football team :) Actually, our neighbor asked him to, but I told him it would be great!! At least it gets him to see some football, even though its flag. He is enjoying it...I think !! They only have 1 practice and 1 game a week. So he can still watch his college football on Saturday's which he hasn't been able to do that forever!
Other than that, we still putting together the house and its getting there! We made a list of everything we want to do the house and hopefully can get some stuff done over the winter.
I will try to do the post more often.. things coming up in the next couple of months:
October- St. Norbert Homecoming. A bunch of us are going to DePere for the weekend!
November- We are going to Las Vegas with my parents for 4 days!
December- Nik and I are hosting Christmas this year on my moms side. Should be interesting! 30 people in our house all at the same time!! We will have fun.. I better start preparing now :)
Hope all is well with everyone!

Family in Minnesota

We had a great weekend with family! My parents and brothers came to Minnesota for Kristina's wedding. The only Lorinser we were missing at the wedding was Tyler :( So Friday we had the wedding and Saturday we went to the Twins game. Sunday we woke up early to go visit my grandma in Willmar. She is in the nursing home and wasn't doing so good that week, but when we went there on Sunday, she was looking the best we have scene her. That lady has some fight in here still! Peter flew back to Washington DC on Sunday so Nik and I brought him back while my parents and Andy stayed in Willmar. I had Tuesday off to spend with my mom and dad. It was great to spend time with them, but we actually had to go to the Children's Hospital to visit my cousin Kristina's son, Noah who went there on Monday. That night we went out to Aunt Dona's for a bbq. Overall is was a great weekend and I wish I didn't have to go back to work! Below is a picture of the Lorinser family at Kristina's wedding.

This weekend we are going to Chicago for Jim and Emily's wedding. Long drive ahead of us tonight, but it will be fun to see old friends!

This weekend was very relaxing. On Saturday we went to Canterbury Race Track to bet on some "ponies" as Nik would say : ) Out of 12 bets, we won once.. well actually I won! I won $16. BIG MONEY! haha. After the races we went to Captain Jacks which is a restaurant on Prior Lake. Very cool bar/restaurant but it was a little windy.

Sunday we cleaned our house and relaxed. My family is coming on Thursday for my cousins wedding. Very excited! First time they will see our house.

Have a great week everyone!

Chicago Weekend

We made the long trip back to Chicago this past weekend. Not for good circumstances though. One of Nik's best friends mom lost her battle with cancer. We knew we had to be there for Danny so made the trip on Friday and came back after the service on Monday. The good part of the trip was that we got see to a lot of great friends.

On Saturday we had a little reunion with Nik's high school gang. We had lunch with Matt, Beth, Ella and Kiley Saip and then went back to to their house to hang out. Later that day, Fletch and Ashley and Danny and Sara came over. We all went to Rib Fest. It was great to see the 4 boys back together and I think they enjoyed themselves! We had a great time! The pictures above show all the girls and all the guys back together again!

On Sunday, we went to breakfast with Fletch and Ashley and went to the Danny's moms wake. After that we met up with Shannon and Rick for dinner. We haven't scene them since Thanksgiving, so it was great to catch up. They are pregnant so we had a lot to hear about from them! They are due in January and sooo excited for them. We plan to get together with them over Labor Day in Wisconsin Dells.

Nik's parents were able to find a early flight home from Florida so they came back on Sunday night for Danny's moms service. Monday we all went to the service and out to lunch and off we were back to Minnesota. The picture of Brady is from our long car ride. I get a little bored in the car :)

It was an exhausting and emotional weekend, but it was great to see old friends!

Welcome to Minnesota!

It was Nik's idea to start a blog :) I will not take credit for this. Since we moved away from Wisconsin we wanted to keep in touch with everyone and keep you updated on our life.

We have been living in our new house for 1 month! It is starting to pull together. Some pictures of the house are posted above. The house is really big for us.. 4 bedrooms which means we have room to grow.. but not yet :) Brady has his own fenced in backyard where we can let him run around. Unfortunately, about 2 weeks ago, we came home from Chicago and he is limping on 3 legs. Nik brought him to the vet and they thought he partially tore his ACL. They told us we needed to keep him calm for 30 days. Not sure how you are supposed to keep our 3 year old chocolate lab calm. It has been a challenge. We weren't able to go to a wedding in Madison or to my families cabin for the 4th because we didn't want him to keep hurt more. I guess this is what kids will be like?!?! If he tore it more he would need surgery and that would cost $3,000. So we needed to keep it safe. Nik called today and now they said if he is walking fine, he probably just sprained it and we can ease him into his normal routines. Thank goodness!

Other than that, Nik and I have been exploring the Twin Cities. We celebrated our 1st anniversary with a day around the city. Nik planned the whole day!! It was great :) We have been to a couple of Twins games, Festivals, and have been just checking the bars and restaurants out. We really like our neighbor. Its nice that we have a park and path right behind our house. Easy access to walks and runs. We meet some neighbors, but not all. I want to meet friends to hang out with but its kinda hard. We have had a great time with my cousin Steve and his girlfriend Emily. Thank goodness we have them to hang out with! Its been fun!

Well that is all for our first post! Hope you enjoy are updates!
